50 Things A Traveler Should Know

I found this fun infograph the other day and while I don’t agree that a well-traveled person should know everything listed (seriously, why do I need to know the name of 15 different metro systems?!), I do believe that if you’ve traveled enough, you’ll know that there are cultural nuances everywhere!  And yes, you’ll also know to bring small change to bathrooms and even your own toilet paper in a lot of countries.  Having just visited Oman, I cannot reiterate the toilet paper thing enough…but I’ll save that for another post.  My favorite on this list, however, is #2: Know the joy of being alone when traveling but never feeling lonely.  That resonates with me so much, I might just shed a tear.

What a cool infographic! I thought I was a pretty good traveler (still a novice, but more experienced than some) until this list. Oh well, just gotta keep traveling to get more experienced!!

Hi Courtney – you’re probably more experienced than you think although… gaining travel experience is not a bad motivation for traveling more. 😉
