Although I was blown away by all the waterfalls in Iceland, I had no idea that Iceland’s abundance of waterfalls paled in comparison to all the waterfalls I saw going through Norway’s fjords! Every which way I turned there was a new waterfall – some tall and thin while others roared down with thunderous force. It was impossible to keep track of the number I saw, but seeing so many in one place left me wondering two things: 1) Do the locals who live in the tiny towns surrounding the fjords know how surreal their backyard scenery is, and 2) why don’t they call this part of Norway “Waterfall Land”?
Below are some of the waterfalls I saw. Even though it was a rainy day, it was no less spectacular to witness in real life. I can only imagine how gorge it’d be on a sunny day!

If you’re interested in seeing this in real life, all the waterfalls were seen en route from Oslo to Bergen with a detour to Sognefjord. We did this trip using the “Norway in a Nutshell” route which is a series of transportation modes (trains, boat, bus) linked together to get from Oslo to Bergen, but I’ll save my thoughts on Norway in a Nutshell in a future post. Transportation modes aside, the natural scenery was so stunning, I’d have thought it could have only existed in the movies!
I read about the “fjords in a day” trip on Rick Steves.. You just validated it as worth doing! 🙂
Just you wait… I have a post on this soon!
