It happened again.
Just like I said earlier, I tend to get a lot of travel inspiration from The Amazing Race.
Last night, I finally caught up to the episode from a week ago (I still have this past Sunday’s episode on the DVR to look forward to) where the teams were in Bavaria of all places. I’ve never given much thought to Bavaria but after watching the teams visit Castle Neuschwanstein (a.k.a. Sleeping Beauty’s Castle), style the mustaches and beards of the Bavarian gentlemen (imagine men who look like Santa Claus and with facial hair resembling a batch of curly fries gone haywire), and pick up a trail of gingerbread like Hansel and Gretel, I want to go! The town looks like it belongs in a fairy tale especially with Sleeping Beauty’s Castle perched atop a hill overlooking the village. I’ve seen castles before but this one is so friggin’ adorable:
Doesn’t it just look like the perfect castle? If it were cast in plastic with a hot pink roof, white trim, and a pink base, it would totally belong on the shelf of toy store (and on every princess’ wishlist).
The best part is that you can actually visit this castle (over 60 million have!). It’s located in the village of Hohenschwangau in southwest Bavaria, Germany, and was once home to King Ludwig II. Heck, maybe you’ll even get lucky and find Prince Charming! 😉
Have you visited Neuschwanstein Castle before? Was it as fairy-tale-perfect as it looks in the pictures?
