…and by “everyone” I mean 43% of the people who responded to the 2012 Traveler Intentions Survey conducted by Travel-ticker.com. The other 4 places that made the top 5 travel destinations are: Australia, England, Bahamas, and France.
I’ll be honest. I’ve been to all 5 of those places and while each place has its own je ne sais quoi, none can hold a candle to Italy. This country has the architecture, the ruins, the piazzas, the food, the renown artists, and the fashion. Whew! You could visit the Statue of David in the morning and bike ride through the Tuscany in the afternoon. You could grab a latte, stock up on Prada, and sample the purest olive oil straight from the barrel all in a day. Or, you could make a weekend trip touring the breathtakingly photogenic Amalfi Coast. Heck, I wouldn’t mind moving there. I actually tried convincing T to let me move there for a few months but he was afraid I’d run away with a gondolier. Sigh. Looks like I’ll have to admire from afar for now until my plan to uproot us and move to Europe is put into action (dun dun dun).
